Back-to-school night is an event for parents and students to meet teachers, learn about the school year, and tour classrooms.

The McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act is a federal law which guarantees a free and appropriate public education for all children and youth experiencing homelessness. It ensures immediate enrollment and educational stability for students PreK through 12th grade.

Student Council Visits White House

The student spring art show will be in the main level of the building in the admin wing from the 22nd to the 29th of May. Students delved into the diverse interpretations of the year-long art theme "Character". These talented students 4K- 8th grade will showcase their artistic prowess through a myriad of mediums. After students show off their skills from the year, work will be sent home!

Employment opportunities are available for the 2024-25 school year.

Russell Byers CS celebrated all the hard work our Staff have done this year with a few events as a thank you. A few things we did was Administration served Staff lunch, Staff had a catered breakfast, Staff was able to get a 7 minute chair Massage and school swag was handed out.

Now that PSSA's are officially complete, we were able to draw tickets for our PSSA raffle winners! These students were on-time, and responsible test takers who got chosen by random draw to claim their prize.

As part of our Positive Behavior Incentive System (PBIS), grades 4K-2nd were able to paint with the Dean on their floor. They earn this opportunity by showing respect, responsibility, resilience and good attendance.

The RBCS track team competed in the 3rd of 4 regular season track meets on 5/2/2024 as they attempt to qualify for the Metropolitan Philadelphia Athletic Association Track Championship

There are a lot of upcoming events, see below! We want to recognize our students who have continuously been displaying our 4 R's - respect, responsibility, resilience, and reflection. It has been a long year, and all of our students have worked so hard to improve both academically and behaviorally. Our deans and support staff have planned different events to celebrate those students and an amazing year! See their flyers below for all of the information, and reach out to them if you have any questions. June 6th - Big Kahuna Water Park with Dean Flynn - Grades 3-5 June 7th - Splash Day at RBCS with Dean Ricketts - Grades 4K & 5K June 10th - Diggerland with Dean Ricketts - Grades 1 & 2 Other than the cost, all of the trips have the same criteria. Students have to have no more than two absences, and need no dean support from April 29th until the time of their trip. Your student will receive a permission slip as their invitation if they meet these expectations. Encourage your students to keep doing their very best until the end of the year!

Have you seen the musical production of Newsies Jr.? Our students, staff, and parents worked for MONTHS to put together an amazing show.

Parents and students partnered with the Vetri Teaching Kitchen to cook a delicious Ethiopian meal.

The RBCS staff vs students basketball game will be returning this year! The RBCS varsity boys team will be teaming up with the RBCS varsity girls team to take on the staff.

Author Dave Roman, who wrote Astronaut Academy Splashdown visited students and parents to discuss how he created his graphic novels.

RBCS is raising funds to support our athletic programs which includes: Cross Country, JV & Varsity Basketball, Cheerleading, 7vs7 Football, Bowling and Track

Students in grades 4-8 compete in an all school spelling bee to become part of the Philadelphia Regional WHYY-Billy Penn Spelling Bee.

Second grade students participated in a Hero’s Walk where they shared a biography of a Black hero with other students.

Student Council is having a fundraiser, and you DONUT want to miss out!

Students participated in the 100th Day of School by dressing up in what they would look like at 100 years of age.

Author/illustrator, Dave Roman will share a dynamic presentation about how reading as a kid motivated him to make his own books and pursue a career in the arts. Using humor, personal anecdotes, and visual examples, Dave will discuss his writing process, drawing tools, and techniques used to create the Astronaut Academy graphic novel series plus show how everyone can create their own visual stories!

Our student council participated in a focus group to taste products that could potentially be added to our food service menu. There honest opinions guided which products students would like and dislike.

Students will be able to dress up or dress down in racially affirming clothing.

Supporting Children through Grief and Loss with a Trauma-Informed Approach

The 2024-2025 SY calendar has been approved.

This parent workshop is to provide parents with practical strategies for guiding and supporting their children in the safe and responsible use of social media.

We have some exciting news - RBCS will be hosting a Spelling Bee!

Meet our 2023-2024 Student Council Members! They ran an awesome campaign to be elected by their peers, and are mentored by Ms. Grant and Ms. Sydney in leadership opportunities, community service, and spirit. We are so proud of their hard work!

The Russell Byers Charter School community sold an estimated $17,000 worth of pies. The procceds raised funds our student activities.

Students will sell pies to raise money for the school's student activity fund.

Dean Roye and other staff members spent their Saturday morning giving away food and coats for those in need.

On Thursday, November 9th, 2023, students and staff will wear camo as part of a dress down day to celebrate Veterans Day. The money raised will be donated to Team Foster, an organization that provides service animals to local veterans.

Student Council campaign season here at RBCS!! Students that are running for class officer positions have been endorsed by a teacher, approved by administration and are now preparing their speeches to be elected by their peers!
