The Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the selection of Ms. Jessica Ramos as our next CEO starting on July 1, 2022. Ms. Ramos has deep roots in Philadelphia. She was raised in West Philadelphia and attended Philly schools, as do her children today. She received her BS in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Temple, an MS in Urban Education from Penn, a principal certification from Temple, and her superintendent certification from St. Joe’s. She began her career in Philadelphia schools teaching middle years English for seven years. Then she moved to leading a K-8 school as principal where, over the course of three years, she moved the school up from an “intervene” school to a model school. Most recently, she served as Assistant Superintendent overseeing fourteen Philly district schools. She has extensive experience coaching principals and teachers and establishing systems to make schools more effective. Those in the school community who have met Ms. Ramos are impressed by her passion for education, her “kids-first attitude,” her “approachability” and the “depth and breadth” of her experience and knowledge.
