Support Our School

Russell Byers Charter School is an urban public elementary school that has taken on the challenge of providing a high-quality education similar to academic programs offered by wealthier public school districts and private schools. Compared to students in many in surrounding districts, our students often come to the task of learning less equipped. But per child, Russell Byers Charter School's funding ranks among the least in the surrounding area.

Public Funding Is Not Enough
The government funds we receive are not adequate to operate on, so additional funding must come from other sources. With a wide variety of student abilities and needs, our challenge is to develop programs that will work for all of our students. Only through donations of many kinds can we meet the challenge.

You can help us! We benefit from employer gift matching, special tax credits, and many other forms of giving. There is bound to be one donation option right for you. You can choose from more than nine ways to give.

What Touches Your Heart?
Would you like to specify how your gift will be used? Some categories include our Peace Program, our special academic program—Expeditionary Learning Outward Bound—technology, the arts, or mentoring. Choose the category that interests you from the many areas where we need your help.

New Tax Incentives
There are new tax incentives for rolling over traditional & Roth IRA contributions to charities. H.R. 4, the Pension Protection Act of 2006, was signed into law on August 16, 2006. This bill contains a two-year IRA Charitable Rollover provision that allows people age 70½ or older to exclude up to $100,000 from their gross income in tax years 2006 and 2007 for cash gifts made directly to a qualified charity.
