Spanish Celebration of Learning

Sixth grade students focused on "Service and Compassion" (Servicio y Compacion). They decided to help one of Philadelphia's Latino Organizations, CONGRESO, by doing a Toy Drive. CONGRESO is a nationally recognized, community based, non-profit organization. It primarily serves the neighborhoods of Eastern North Philadelphia where the majority of the city's Latino population resides. The 6th graders collected more than 50 new, unwrapped toys this year. The toys were distributed to deserving children in the Latino areas of Philadelphia.

First grade students focused on "Diversity and Inclusivity" (Diversidad e Includividad) through a study of Latin American folktales. They performed "The Three Bears" as a skit in Spanish, "Los tres Osos". The students worked in groups to come up with different endings to the original story.
